What Happens When My Student Visa Expires?

It is important to remember that your course end date and your Student Visa expiry date are not necessarily the same. Depending on your course duration, you may receive some additional time in Australia after your studies finish.

If you want to remain in Australia beyond your Student Visa expiry date, you will generally need to apply for another appropriate visa. You cannot simply extend the expiry date of your existing Student Visa.
Can I Apply for Another Student Visa?

A Bridging Visa A generally allows you to remain lawfully in Australia after your current substantive visa expires while the Department processes your new visa application.
