Certificate III in Design Fundamentals

This entry level course will give you the practical skills and knowledge to kick start your career in the creative industries. You will learn how to produce innovative digital images, create pages using a page layout application and process photographic images.

Certificate IV in Design

In this course you will learn essential skills in digital illustration, manipulating graphics, magazine layouts, creating logos and concept design. It is a stepping stone course for further studies in the Diploma of Graphic Design.

Diploma & Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design

In these high level courses will provide you with the specialised skills to start your graphic design career. You will gain hands-on experience in web design, typography, branding, packaging, photography, digital and online design, illustration and portfolio design. These courses will also teach you how to compete in a digital world and how to effectively mark yourself and your work.

Diploma of Interior Design

This diploma will teach you the specialised skills required to become an interior designer. You will learn how to work with clients to develop a design brief, create colour schemes, and formulate creative design solutions and technical computer skills in Photoshop, InDesign & CAD and hand drafting techniques.

Advanced Diploma of Interior Design

This high-level course dives deeper into the interior design processes which follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, from building technologies to the analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process. You will learn about space planning, space creation, detailing complex residential and commercial projects and the factor that affect people's living and working environments.

English Proficiency

Usually, you will need to demonstrate you have competent English skills by showing a test results such as IELTS 5.5

High School Certificate

Steps towards an Australian Skilled Visa

As the occupations of Graphic Designer and Interior Designer are currently on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), once qualified and with the necessary professional experience, it may be possible obtain an employer-sponsored visa that will allow you to continue to live and work in Australia once you have completed your Australian studies.

Complete your bachelor level course

You will usually need to study a bachelor level with a duration of at least 3 years. Your Study Gurus Counselor will help you enrol in a course that will meet the duration and qualification levels to become eligible to apply for a graduate visa.

Apply for your 485 Graduate Visa

After you have studied your bachelor degree, you may be eligible to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa. You will need to demonstrate your English proficiency. The graduate visa will allow you to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years so you can gain professional experience. Apply for a formal Skills Assessment

After you have completed your post qualification work experience you will usually need to apply for an official assessment of your skills.  This involves having your qualification and professional work experience assessed by an assessment authority such as Vetassess.  You will need your skills assessment certificate to be able to apply for an employer-sponsored or skilled independent visa.

Apply for a Skilled or Employer-Sponsored Visa

Upon receipt of your positive skills assessment, you may be eligible to apply for an employer sponsorship. Common visas available to a Graphic Designer include:

  • 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage – Medium Term Stream
  • 494 – Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) – Employer sponsored stream
  • 491 – Skilled Work Regional (provisional) visa
